If you are going away for a week and you lived in a cool climate, would you leave your pumpkin blankets on or off for that time? We won't be having a pumpkin babysitter and our night temps hit in the 50's degrees almost every night. We have been taking the blankets off during the day and putting them on again at night.

Creekside,
A fellow grower in Santa Rosa has blankets on the pumpkins and leaves them on 24 hours a day. However, they are under tarps. Last time they measured, some of the bigger ones had estimated weights over 600 pounds.
I would leave them on.

I leave mine on all day and night so it should be alright. If you are gone then the sun really starts baking your pumpk then she might dry out.
