so you say your afraid that with the heavy rains coming that you pumpkins may split at the blossom?
why not strap it and tighten around the pumpkin with one of those tie down rachet straps?
wrap it in the same area you would tape for circumference. run the strapping so that it runs across the blossom - then tighten to create pressure to hold the fruit together. use a piece of foam in any area where the ratchet might mark up the fruit.
who knows it might prevent a blowout????????

Nah it won't work! the pressure will build up and it will split some place else. I guess if we covered a pumpkin in sandbags , that might hold the pressure in?

how bout growing it in a vaccuum, without air, no pressure. Maybe a nice experiment for the space station, growing a giant pumpkin in zero gravity..... ;) lol
