Looks like my final plant has captured powderly mildew.

I sprayed with some fungicide today but not quite sure it will help.

is it true there is no way to cure this once it starts?

thanks

Not true. You can use both a contact and a systemic to control/stop PM even now. Even using a milk solution will slow it to the point of getting you through the season. but, the commercial stuff is better.

4 OZ of milk per gallon of water. 2 1/2% works and I have seen it take out the PM for a while. Can spray in the warmth of the day too with out problems. Good Luck

Compost tea using earthworm castings have proven effective in at least one university study to cure powdery mildew. The Wiz's recommendation of milk in a 9 to 1 ratio also has proven effective in more than one study. I would recommend fat free milk however. The fat can smell bad when it sours. With or without fat however has proven equally effective. I've got a touch of powerdery mildew showing up on my oldest leaves and so I will be using both today.

I have also added baking soda to the mixture at about a 1/2 tsp per 1 gallon along with the milk. I spray a mixture of the milk, {spray tech oil (when its not too hot)} ( 1/4 oz per gal of mixture gal of water) so I end up with a li 36 OZ of solution to spray. It has removed the PM for a while. Hope this helps.
