Well folks, my competition season came to an abrupt hault this morning.

Both my remaning fruit were 38 days old. My 672 was est over 700 and the 1046 was est about 650. Both split the blossoms after rain. The 672 is still on 30 / day pace so it was going to be big.

Earlier in the year I lost my 300" D30 1073 C&P.

This is just a reminder to everyone that even though it's sometimes tough to gut out that slow growing pumpkin that there are guys like me out there with NOTHING for the scale. It's not a good feeling. Hundreds and hundreds of hours invested and nothing at the finish. Ouch. Gonna be a LOOOOOOONG winter.

Sorry to hear of your losses. Mine are slowing down so I should be thankful they are not blowin up. Still there is a month and half until the first weighoff here in CT.

I'm not sure if anyone keeps track, but there have been more splits, cracks and rotting pumpkins than I can remember in a while. Cool and wet in the northeast. Nothing for the weigh-off...that's tough...sorry to hear it.

Sorry to hear Chris. Those of us who have been growing for many years understand how many things need to line up to get a decent pumpkin to a weigh off. And some years are just simply better than others.

Ah man, that sucks. I've still got one pumpkin, can you bring me over your giant svb free vines and we'll duct tape it on? Seriously, sorry to here Chris.

Sorry to hear about both pumpkins at one time going down. Sounds like they liked the weather up till the rain. At day 30, 700 is a great number!

Chris,
That must be aweful frustrating! I'm sorry to hear that. They were on such a nice pace. If you can take any consolation out of this, it could be that you were doing somethings very right to get them to grow so well up until they split.

Now that I can't jinx myself any more I'll keep posting measurements in my diary. I was scared as heck to post any #'s, but I guess what the heck it didn't matter.

D40 my own 672 is at 752.5 today. Averaged OVER 31# / day since the first of August and not slowing down. That's exciting in itself, but the best part is 998 was the pollinator! Whoooo hoooo.

Those are fine looking fruit Chris (cute little one too!). The orange one could have taken prettiest for sure, although Shannon is up to something also.
