My 1171 couldn't take all the cool nighs and heavy rain. It was a nice solid looking fruit with good color and growing nicely right up to Wednesday when the blossom end opened. It was 329" OTT and actually weighed 871 pounds making it about 15% heavy.

Sorry to hear Bart. Three of your 1171´s still growing in Finland and one of them over current national record. Very nice seed indeed.

I hope your other fruits are doing well.

bum deal bart. that is all you can say. i lost everything one season to splits. a fellow grower in illinois lost everything last year including one over 400 ott right before the weigh off. never seen a dude so stoic in the face of tragedy. he was at the weigh off rooting us all on like it didn't even phase him. a lot more composure than i would ever have. what i learned from him is chin up, and try again next year. it can be a heartbraking hobby for sure. i know these words don't mean much right now, but i hope it might help a bit to know you are not alone in splittsville. it happens sooner or later to everyone in this hobby. best of luck in your future growing, shazzy.

Thats some tough luck Bart. You had an extremely big one going. I just lost one at 550 lbs on my 1470 yesterday. Too much rain and the blossom end blew.

Ouch...I'm sorry Bart. 871 at 15% heavy would have been a MONSTER!!! I know what you're growing next year.

Ray came home from vacation today & found that he took a shellacking by the hail storm.

It looks like a lot of records are going to stand another year.

Bart......sorry to hear about your fruit. It sounded like it was going to be a nice one.

I was bombarded by hail and so much rain. Nice way to come back from vacation. Oh yeah, I also have one that is aborting too, this late in the game.

Sorry to hear that, I had the same problem starting seeds this year. I went thru the seeds I planed to grow and more. All I know is I'm going with pro-mix or black dirt next year,,last year I used miracle grow starting soil and spagum moss mixed, I had horible succes.
