Coming home from the patch we drove through the worst hail I've ever seen. Windshield is toast. I think that the weird, unGodly sound we heard crossing the Housatonic may have been a tornado. Nothing reported on the news yet but the power just came back on.

WEIRD - WEIRD - WEIRD

I hope everyone is well.

Milford

milford, CT,

Steve, Not a lot of good news here in Milford. A lot of us Milford growers got crushed by the hail and wind. I'm going around to help out the other guys tomorrow...very bad!!! Any advice what to do to salvage the season. Afew of the other guys have good ones going but they said there is virtually nothing left of the plant. What should I tell them to do to atleast get some weight gains for the rst of the season.

Systemic foliar fungicide (Aliette or Agri-Fos) to stave off Fusarium is good following this (yet another) drenching rain. T-Methyl would have been perfect this morning as it would be watered in now. Drenching anything this week would be an insult to the plant roots & soil.
Mild foliar ferts will help keep/restore vigor especially now that any soluble soil N will be leached.
These cool nights will favor Powdery Mildew so foliar Eagle needs to be stepped up too.

in fairfield we didnt luckily get the storm.but coming home from new haven was very bad, rain, wind, hail, flooded highwats.luckily the patch survived.....cool nights favor powdery mildew?i thought it was the humidity that was no good.

Cool & humid are the worst. Try to reinforce those fungicides ASAP.
