I agree wuth Nana, I seen the most this year then I have in the past three years put together. I think there has been alot of lost pumpkins/plants this year because of the nasty desease they cause.

Last year they hit us in a cloud, this year Im wanting to have a plan of attack if they come....Garlic is what Im wanting to due. Do you spray a perimeter around the patch or the leaves......We dont want to burn the leaves.....
Please Advise

I've had a fair amount of them. Not as many as the last two years it seems. I think one of my pumpkins has some type of mosaic virus, maybe due to cuke beetles....although they didn't do too much damage to the leaves of this plant. I use Garlic Barrier at the recommended concentration. I haven't used it since pollinations started around mid July, that might have been my problem. I think spraying every 5-7 days may be a good schedule....but that's just a guess.

If they get thick, I hit them with a good spray to knock down the population. Then I use cheap garlic powder from WalMart, $0.50 a bottle. I just sprinkle it all over and it repells them without harm to the plant.

Iowegian...do you sprinkle it on the soil, the plant, or both?
