I am down to my last 2 fruit on my 2 flag plants. The one main fruit aborted and the other main fruit on the other plant cracked yesterday at about 42"cc.
Each fruit left is now on 2ndary vines.
Is it neccessary to keep the 2ndary vine after the fruits stem attaches to it or can i cut the vine right after the stem?

More importantly is that you relieve all stress from the stem on the pumpkin you're trying to keep...If doing so requires removing secondaries and/or all tap roots that secure them to the ground and raising the vine to meet the "Saver" then do so...way to late for anything else...start blocking the vine up to release the stress..again this is assuming your pumpkin has reach the weight were moving is impossible..otherwise reposition the fruit to the vine...then get ready to block it up...by september these vines will be beer can thick...they will break off the stem.
