for the rest of the posts that first line is a given...just fill in what you remember...it's like reading a fortune cookie only the last line is always "between the sheets" nmext time you read the cookie...end it that way.
so here it goes. I can remeber when....
The plant had to be 1200 square feet. How to grow giant pumpkins ....had no Volume numbers Owen's hair wasn't grey....sorry Owen....baltimore beat us up last week.
when twelve foot of main vine two foot wide was huge to me.
when having a 400 lber in octber was great....now I'm not happy with 400 in August...
you guys get what I mean.
This could be a fun thread!

I can remember when Sputnik was launched. I can remember when we had a hand crank phone on the farm. I can remember riding in my Dad's shiny black 1950 Buick. I can remember the first color TV and we had 3 channels to watch. I can remember when Eisenhower was president. I can remember when Bob Ruff won the first Anamosa wieghoff with one around 290#. I can remember when that guy from Colorado brought the first 1000# pumpkin to Anamosa, just having trouble remembering his name. I can't remember the names of half of the people I know. I can't remember to use my asthma inhaler until I have an attack. Was that Colorado guy Joe Scherber??

I can remember when Alex was small enough to fit into one of Chucks field pumpkins. I can remember when Pappy and Jeff fought out the battle of the south, Pappy won. I can remember when Boily kept us all happy during the winter by sharing his great diary from Australia. I can remember when Don Quijot grew the first 1000 pounder in Europe. I can remember when a 600 pound pumpkin was a guarantee of the top 3 in Germany, now it won’t get you into the top 15. I can remember when Ken and John used to receive seeds from growers and sell them for postage only. I can remember when Len Stellpflug did a diary here to help new growers. I can remember reading about genetics from some Joe Ailts studies. I can remember meeting Cary and Kenny in chat, they were very friendly and helpful to me. I can remember when Farmer Scott Armstrong helped newbies out all the time.. I can remember receiving my first 707 Toftness from the man himself my favorite seed of all time. I can remember when the AGGC was open to all growers for nothing. I can remember when SVRICHB grew AGs, wish he would grow em again. I can remember some funny posts by BLKCLOUD, miss him too. I can remember when the 846 Calai was the only seed to grow for great color. I can remember when Scott, Joe, Christy, Nick and Tom were still single. I could go on for ever, this site has been a part of my life for a very long time and means a lot to me.

I can remember a world without a super walmart in every city and what is a big box store? When all we had was the corner store and gas station and an Agway. I remember waiting for the fair to come to town in July thinking it was a long wait. Summer camp at Camp Stella Maris, where you could go swimming and have fun and take swimming lessons. Before Nano's, Ipods, cable TV, I remember when cable came to our little town, and cool a remote control and color TV. Rubics cubes, 8 track tapes, vinyl records, and those single 45 records, how cool is that. And as the Biz sayz, we need to get back out to the patch. All good fun and memories.

I remember when... a 20# field pumpkin was HUGE Kennedy being shot Whole milk at 58c a half gallon Holding onto the chrome bumper of Dad's '56 Ford while learning to walk $20 worth of groceries was more than a strong man could carry and there was at least half a bag of meat in there. They put marigold seeds in the cereal, and if you grew a white one it was worth $10k (and that someone did win it) Dreaming of a 50# pumpkin for carving Gas at 23.9c BUYING a 10c comic book off the rack 25c of candy included a hershey bar and you could get sick off all that. 5c Reeses Peanutbutter cups 10c for a 10 oz soda in a glass bottle and that included 1c deposit on the bottle A 'church key' Making long strings of poptops for decorating your room When they got PBS and rejoicing because we had THREE tv channels to watch Test patterns before the station came on the air? Nesbitt's Root Beer? Buying a 50c paperback brand new A/C meant filling a waxed milk carton with water and freezing it, and putting it in the old loaf pan in front of the fan with the killer metal blades with no mesh guard Houses with lots of kids, the tuner knob was missing and you had to use a pliers to change channel. When regular grind hamburger was 91% and the kabitching when they moved it to 88% Buying a box of Cornflakes for 29c
