I have a plant that seems pretty healthy. The pumpkin was doing 31 lbs a day prior to the rain ..then 6 inches of rain over 4 days. She's @ 250 lbs...the last 3 days 7.5 lbs per day. It's been nice the last 2 days and my other fruit went right back on track. Barring a disease problem has anyone had pumpkin rebound and get back in the game? I have skipped watering for the last 2 days to let the patch dry out...rain expected tonight and tomorrow.

Milford, The rain has hit me hard too. I was doing 24 and 28 lbs a day and ramping up on both fruits. After the rains and cooler nites I was down to 17 and 20 and just starting to creep up again yesterday which was 25 and 27lbs... My pumpkins don't want to get into that massive growth stage. We need some 70 degree nites! But I should still be over 500 lbs by the end of today well this morning! I know I don't have a disease problem because both plants have slowed down.

any week with several days of cloudy cool rain ,etc, will effect the daily weight gains. its almost impossible not to see a drop off. fortunately most have the ability to rebound and get back to or exceed the pre rainy weight gains.

I understand the drop offs due to the rain, I was just a little concerned because the other 2 plants have returned to there usual gains but this one hasn't. I hope she does ...was on a good pace and has great position and shape to make a good one. Thanks guys!!! Mark

Is this plant in a different patch? I know you had two distinct growing areas.

Mark,
Knowing your situation (grade sloping down toward wetland tree species) I also fear the recent rains are causing you grief. Foliar Alitte might offer some relief (MIGHT).
For sure stop watering until the soil approaches dryness.
Hope that that thunder I hear passes you by.
The fruit Mark is speaking of is in the lower patch.

I've done my part..no water for 3 days to dry out ..soil still moist under the surface..drenched with aliette 4 days ago. It's gonna rain tonight and tomorrow so we'll see what happens. Only time will tell...Mark

Simular conditions here...got through the dry heat with modest gains..the rain just stopped em in there tracks...todayas they started to dry out got back to 20 lbs a day...not what I wanted but at least they didn't stop.
