Anyone else trying this? I HAD one that was growing great right out the gate. I was 6.5 inches ahead of the 1200 pound benchmark for the 20 day mark. 2 days later all growth stopped. Has anyone else had the displeasure of this happening to them this year? Oh, by the way, I'm looking for a 1402 Bosworth for next year!!!

I am only growing one per plant. 14 days old and I make my decision. Fastest growing pumpkin gets the plant to itself. Last year had a good one growing that taped out to 391 lbs at 30 days then just stopped after day 31!

I've had 3 this year. Yes, THREE. All were ahead of the same benchmark. All stopped growing between days 22 and 25. In looking at my home diary notes and research here I strongly suspect too much potassium as being the culprit. Two went down at 45 days with NO mature seeds. I pulled the third this morning with dead stem @ 59 days. Also no mature seeds inside. Three others that are much younger are still growing at a much much slower rate. My potassium levels were high to start with and hit them with potassium nitrate at the same level that I do my commercial pumpkins on drip irrigation that have low or moderate levels of K. HH preach moderation. Next year I'll listen! If K wasn't the problem then I have NO clue what it was.

I put a bunch of potassium (I think sulphate) last year because I had a couple bad days for weight gain, then all stopped. I chalked it up to that too, so you may be right.
They say K is responsible for fruit maturation, but maybe too much all at once cause it to...mature all at once...or at least stop growing anymore.

Don't rule out nitrogen, it has "ripened" a fruit or two early for me in the past.
