Would covering (shielding) the plant base help in protecting it against late year breakdown? Not with soil or sand but with some type of structure high enough to shield it from the bulk of rain and moisture. Thoughts and feeling appreciated.

Powdery mildew likes shade. We keep our bases as open as possible for maximum air flow.

Oh so that's what happened to those great plants you had this year Mr.T ..ummmm, I don't think that works, I would like to have a pumpkin over 150lbs:o)
