this pumpkin is on a side vine. 8' out on the main and 8' out the second side vine, total ott is 43 x 30 x 30 = 103" all of my main sets have aborted. my question is, is this set just sucking up the fertilizers real fast and then going to stall out early, or is it possible to take it to weigh off ? all answeres welcomed. thanks Bill

Fruits on secondaries often start out very fast, but usually don't finish as strong as main vine fruits. There have been pumpkins grown over 1000 lbs on secondaries. If you lost all the ones on the main I'd ride this one out and see where it goes.

PPP, thanks, I just measured agian 12 hrs was 43 now 45 was 30 now 31 was 30 now 30.5. so it is growing fast but like you said i dont have to much choice. I'm going to let the secondary grow as if it were a main and see what happens. I found cracks in the main vine at almost every leaf node so maybe that is the problem with all the aborts. thanks Bill
