ok all my plants are growing great. I have a just a few quick question about some things i have noticed.

on a few leaves i can find leaf miners. I did some reading and they dont seem to be a big deal as long as it is isolated. true?

i see a few holes in a leaf or two on various plants. somethign is munching i have no clue what. is this normal to have a few munchers or should my plants be perfect all the time? i have been using 7 dust spray about once a week. it has been raining ALOT should i reapply 7 dust more often?

also when do i know it is a good time to weed out some plants? they are only about 3 weeks old at this point and about 1 1/2 feet tall. i veyr affraid to tear them out in fear i choose wrong but there are two plants that are a good 6 inches bigger then the otehrs

don't pull em out...just cut the cull back to the ground..don't disturb the young roots at all....dust more often after the rain. if your growing in florida sand keep up a good fertilizer program....got to get those plants to start running. sand will leach out the nitrogen fast.

I am in Florida however I prepped the soil by digging out a 1000 square foot area almost 4 foot deep and filled it with nothing but organic miracle grow brand soil. Then let it sit for a week under some heavy rain. I rented a big tiller and worked in some new seed fert. I took a sample to a place near here and asked them to test it and told them my plans. When they called me they said it was a fabulous start and just abut anything I planted should grow great. It must have worked great because I planted 7 giants and all of then sprouted by the end of the 5th day.

When you say cull does that mean just cut them down close to the soil? Won’t they just grow back like a lot of other plants?

Also I am using the spray style 7dust. It is this milky white stuff in a red bottle that you attach a hose to. Should I re-apply after every rain? Thanks

haha i dont know about that considering most of you guys have full working farms but yes considering this is all for a pumpkin plant i have spent a good penny.

i'm not the normal first timeer at most things i do. I like to jump on in spend the time and money to get it right the first time. i will make plenty of mistakes but it wont be becasue i did not give it my best

Probably be better off using something more potent than Sevin. Go with something containing bifenthrin or (lambda or gamma)-cyhalothrin. If it is just chewing insects, imidacloprid or acephate would work too.

Hard to say without seeing the damage. Got any pics?
