Don't even want to add it up. On average more than 3.5 hours per day for four plants. Once every hour to hour and a half. When I'm not working I'm online, even set up an online community with Giant pumpkin forums. Have been holding a yearly Virtual Weigh Off to try and promote the hobby.

100 or so, no tiller, shovel, free como\post at city site, free horse manure at race track, make my own fish emulsion/seaweed. once or twice a day, in and out of there 10-15 times, water has to be carried to pumpkins in buckets, I give them the water with a cup. I'm in there maybe a hour a day. I might spend 15 minutes-half a hour looking up diffrerent pumpkin info.

I don't want to know how much I've spent. Hours, definitely more than the tomatoes, pond, yard, and second garden have gotten combined. Tomatoes get weeded after the patch, just to keep hubby off mine. In the course of a week, probably 50 hours with vinework, weeding, and more. Dropping in here, I don't count up my internet time, as I don't want to know. Amount spent and time spent should be weighted with how much income you have (% of income spent) and % of time spent of your free time (some of us have lives, spouses, and jobs) Siiigh... kneeling by a big orange blob under the shelter, is priceless.

I charge $150 an hour for my Private Practice. I spend 2 hours a day in the Garden. Thats $300 a day working on P-Patch for 5 Months = $45,000.000. Now that's what I call money well spent!

Spent about $3000 this year so far. 20 hours a week in garden. Plants are on close circuit tv, so I don't have to go out into the patch at all. Spend a few hours a week online.

WOW, Beer & Robots, what a good idea. I use a cup, if I just pour 5 straight gallons on the plant it all does'nt get absorbed, goes everywhere.

I actually thought I could have time for other things, my husband is almost understanding as long as I good a good meal at the end of the day. Amount of $ I spent, dont want to know but it was more than I spent on new clothes. Probably about 3 hours daily if not more in the patch and more time getting stuff ready like fertilizers, insecticides, covers, underneath protection and ready all I can on how to do this crazy hobby..Im glad Im not the only nut.
