I was able to keep a little pumpkin from a late summer wedding till past the first of the year. It was glazed and I had it on my desk in the cellar. Mabey cold dark place in straw. I do that for my veggies in the fall to last all winter. Dont see any difference between a pumpkin and a butternut squash. Try it. I put them in a wood box w/ straw and can eat some stuff even till Feb. Danielle
