Ok I have another issue, my husband read somewhere about buring the vine close to the fruit to get more food to the fruit and to try cloning. Now he did this 7 days ago and the pumpkin is doing great. Grew 2 1/2 in in 1 day. Now after reading on this board I realized this is a mistake since the pumpkin will eventually rip the vine out of the ground if it gets really big. My question is this: if we unbury the vine will it die or do you think it already rooted and its too late to stop it?

I wouldn't bury the vine too close to the fruit.. i'd un-bury it and let it lift up off the ground on its own. It happens so gradually that its not going to hurt anything. The plant roots at most leaf nodes.... cutting the roots to move vines seems to cause no major damage. These plants are a lot more rugged than you think.

Thank you for responding so quickly we wernt sure what to do. He thought it would deffinately die if we unburied it. Its a great pumpkin and we didnt want to loose it. Oh, mabey you would know, is it normal for the end to stick out so far and up towards the sky? It looks like a boob.Thats actually what we named it Boobee. LOL Thanks again Danielle and Scott Letendre

I try to keep my stem and flower ends level with each other... adjusting the fruit starting when its really small.. but thats just me. Protect that stem... don't let it get bent, jammed into the ground, cracked or stressed in any way. Sounds like it might be wedged under the friut...? You can still adjust it... just do it a little bit at a time everyday. I mean a very little bit...
