I have been having a pretty vicious battle with cukes and squash bugs for a few weeks now and I have decided that it is time for retaliation. I am going to try out my habanero/garlic spray from hell (The stuff is pretty much organic napalm!). If for som reason this doesn't work, I will have to resort to Sevin, which I would rather not do, but I will if I must. I have been looking at the directions on the bag and it seems a little complicated for applying to pumpkins (It's the regular dust kind). Any tips as to how much to apply and how to apply it?

I had to use sevin early this year... cuc beetles just devastate new growth. Use the spray mix kind. My buddy finally talked me into it and I'm glad I used it. Just spray a little mist over the whole plant on a dry day. thats key... the stuff has to dry on the leaves and such.. You'll find dead cuc beetles everywhere the next few days... you're not going to eat your pumpkins ( i'm assuming) so what the hell. I just got fed up... works great.

I had the same prob. and jap beetles are everywhere. What I do is make my own liquid spray w/ the dust. I saved a bottle that had the liquid ( u can use any clean spray bottle) and I put 1/2 cup powder and fill w/ water, shake and spray. You have more control w/ the spray and besides good luck tring to find the liquid sray anyways so since you have the powder thats what I would do. So far its working.
