On June 27th successfully pollinated a pumpkin on a 1315 Larue. The plant is super healthy and enormous... 1500sq.ft. or more. I've deadheaded all vines and trimmed all flowers. The fruit was doing very well up until about a week ago when its growth seems to have just stopped. Soil tests the spring were right on and I haven't over fertilized... any ideas.

weather, vine borers, disease, weather or it may still be growing. Give it a chance. Look around the plant for problems like a main vine that was stepped on (me last year).

I the ground saturated with water from all the rain? If so the plant will stop until it dries out a little and allows the oxygen back into the soil.

This started happening about a week ago when it was dry and hotter than hell. It really strange... it was cranking for the first few weeks and then it just slowed down to a crawl. It a bummer because the plant itself is an absolute monster. So healthy and lush... maybe i'm just being impatient?

Hi Ozzy,
I have seen a late season abort before. I truly hope this isn't the case seeing you have everything dead headed. I had a Breznick seed going hot and heavy 2 years ago and it just stopped after about 25 days. My patch is flooded currently with 4 1/2 inches of rain in 48 hours. I am assuming you got hit hard as well.

Not to be discouraging but I grew the 1315 last year that did the same thing. Was doing great until end of July and then just stopped at around 100" circ. I waited for it to start up again but it never happened. When i finally did cull it though I found a vine borer had invaded on the underside of my vine about 3 ft. from the fruit. IMHO they can shut you down in a hurry even if the plant looks o.k.
