My husband is giving way too much fish and molassas I think. I set this site up for him but seem to be the only one going on (no surprise). Anyways he has been giving each of our pumpkins (so far 2 out of 7 plants) 2 5 gal jugs of fish and molassas each every day on top of watering. Im not sure he should be doing it, I just think thats too much. Am I wrong? I will admit it if I am. Just dont want to loose the 2 we have. They look great so far and are growing so I dont know. Thank anyone,Danielle (hes Scott)

molassas should be 1 tablespoon to gal of water. 2 times a week would be plenty.
the fish fert should tell you the ratio. Most people cut this ratio in have and apply 2 a week.
when watering you should give it a really good drench then give it a day or 2 befor before drenching again.

To much is seldom a good thing, time will tell if he keeps it up. However, God forbid something happens to your plants but if it does don't even attempt to tell him that the over fertilizing was the cause. I know if my wife were to tell me that I would argue forever that is was something else. We love being in denial!:>)

Thanks, THANK GOD!! I bought a gal of fish for $17. and was worried we wernt gonna have any $$$$ left by the fall! Not to mention my water bill!! Even though we have pumpkins going great and 3 more were pollinated today shouldnt we give water every day?? Its been hot! Im waiting for all the giant pumpkins books. I just couldnt get them in time before this season started, had to really search online. Danielle OH PS: If any one still needs any males in the north central mass area I have a ton. I check this site every day.

you can water everyday if your soil dries out but if still some moisture in it, watering everyday will cause fungal diseases

I ONCE KNEW A GROWER WHO USED TO APPLY WATER SOLUABLE M- GROW FERTALIZER WITH THE FEEDER CONTAINER HELD UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE HE WANTED TO GET MORE JUICE INTO HIS PLANTS. "WOW LOOK HOW BLUE IT FLOWS OUT OF THE FEEDER WHEN ITS UPSIDE DOWN " I ( ERR, HE) USED TO SAY.
NEEDLESS TO SAY WE HAVE ALL DONE STUPID ,OVER THE TOP, IN EXCESS, INSANE, HARMFULL THINGS WHEN WE STARTED OUT.IN MY CASE IT WAS MANY YEARS AGO.
THE GOOD GROWERS LISTEN TO THOSE THAT HAVE DONE IT ALL AND IT SAVES THEM FROM MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES.
THEN AGAIN YOU CAN LEAD A HORSE TO WATER BUT YOU CANT MAKE HIM DRINK
