Yesterday I noticed what looks to be black mildew or mold on my pumpkin, about quarter size. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or is it too late?

If the mold is too deep for bleach to work, what about carefully digging the spot out and applying captan?

what size is the pumpkin?...I read this differently...if the pumpkin is a quater size...it didn't pollinate..look to the next flower and try again..

The pumpkin is around 60-70 pound's and the mold spot is about the size of a quarter.

This is definately not a good sign...but if it is your keeper for the year I would go along with both the suggestions, then cover it with a tarp, keep it dry, and if need be put a fan on it until the wound heals...seen some mighty big bites in pumpkins although the scar stays they've kept growing....if the hole fills with water it's over...top scars are the worst...side intrusions are easier to deal with....How's that G...I used the word intrusions...might not have spelt it right! LOL good luck,,,GrowEmBig! Chuck

Well it looks like the molded area is larger today, should I cut it out and fill it, if so what shoud I fill it with, or should I see if the captan works?????
