some atlantic giants are somewhat white in the begining then turn a crappy color later in the season. if your refering to a baby moon ? what would be the point? we are growing giant pumpkins.

I am not sure what kind of white pumpkins they are as the seedling was given to me by someone. I was just curious what would happwn when the 2 are combined. I understand MOST of you are attempting to grow giant pumpkin...it was just a curiousity question. I will ask on a different website. Thanks for the help.

Well if the white pumpkin is a C.Pepo you likely would just get an aborted fruit.

What is a C.Pepo and why would it abort?

AG is C. Maxima. C. Maxima will cross with any other C. Maxima. C. Maxima wont cross with C. Pepo meaning the pollen from C. Maxima won't work on C. Pepo and reverse. I crossed Cinderella with AG. The reason for the cross was to add size to the Cinderella. I am growing a Red Kuri x AG squash cross this year. Red Kuri is normally 3 lbs. The fruit from this cross is already 15 lbs.

Threegrowingboys, You can usually tell C. pepo and C. maxima apart by what the stem looks like. C. pepo tend to have thinner, hard stems, while C. maxima tend to have thicker softer stems...there may be exceptions to this that I'm not aware of.
