Anyone load up the blossom end with silicon regardless of problems? If something did happen, might prevent air from ever getting inside.

Jordan this is a good thought. However it might be more prudent to tissue sample a few older leaves to get an idea if trouble may be brewing with possible defiencies of Calcium or Boron.

I wouldn't "load it up", because the wrong kind of caulk over the long term can trap in too much moisture on the skin, and cause problems.
I'd put a small amount on over the problem area, i have had good luck caulking holes after they appear.

Quick question, over here in the UK we have a difference between Caulk and Silicone, Caulk is a plaster based substance her and Silicone a water proof acid based substance that sets like rubber. Which do you guys use? Oh and there is Acrylic here too that will allow you to paint over it where as silicone won't

I use Liquid Nails silicone based, made for toilet/bathroom use. It does a good job of stretching as the split gets bigger, and you can keep adding more onto it if you need.

In the past I've used paraffin wax, melted down with captan powder added, and applied to the crack when cool, but still pliable. I'd worry about the acid in silicone caulking damaging the pumpkin.
