I have been finding little bird turds in my patch and my uncle Larry says that he sees little ducklings go up by my patch from the pond. I have noticed a declining population of squash bugs and heck, their little turds might make a potent fertilizer. I havn't seen any damage in the patch that they would be the cause of, so is it ok if they go in the patch?

Sam,
I heard a story about a fellow growing strawberry plants. Someone told him that a certain breed of ducks left loose would eat all the weeds and leave the strawberry plants alone. It seems that he must have purchased "the wrong breed" because they ate the weeds AND all the strawberry plants!

Ducks don't peck you need a beak to peck..ducks have a bill. Also Ducks don't leave a turd..the leave a SH*#. Most likely you are seeing Toad or Worse yet Rat Crap...Set a few block of Decon in an old pipe.

actually those big feet make a nice wide surface area so they tend not to compress the soil.

I would be more worried about the ducks injesting all the chems we put in the patch..
