Is this theoretical lobe broken off prior to pollination or 2 days after polination?

I would guess it will be fine if there is no other damage, after 2 days the lobes job is done. How big it will grow is a different subject.

well i thought mabey it would afect its growth, but ya thats the only damage, one more thing do you think not haveing the lobe on my pumpkin will make it more likely to split at the blossom end?

I had a puppy eat a blossom completely off my pumpkin one year.... it was older than 2 days though. It ended up being 1114 lbs.

A study was done on growth of pollen tubes. In one test group the female flowers were cut off after 12 hours.
It was determined that 12 hours were enough for the fastest pollen tubes to enter the pumpkin, assuming the temperature was 30 celcius.
