If the female flower's ovaries are jumbled up is that bad? Usually the ovaries in the flower are in a neat circle, but one we pollinated yesterday had a mess of ovaries that were not organized.

Good question...I pollinated a messed up 5 lobe this morning and was wondering the same thing. Thanks for posting the link Phil but in this case (and maybe Creek's as well) there are no seeds mixed in there just a jumbled mess of ovaries.

Yep, no seeds in the ovaries here too. Today when I pealed off the wilting flower, and looked closely at the ovaries again, they didn't look as badly mixed up. I think as they are not so big and drying out, they seem to have more order. I could count five somewhat twisted lobes. I will keep the pollination unless I hear otherwise.

Thanks for the link Tango. I am going to check the one I pollinated this morning right now.
