Ok...I'm already thinking about fall preperation....I am almost sure I can get free horse poo...Will that work ok...I plan on making my own compost out of yard waste. If horse poo dosn't work does anyoneknow of a cheap sorce of cow poo in my area. I'm only 13 and trying to save up for different things. Also does neptunes really help.
Thank you to anyone who replys.

Horse poop is great. Not so good though if full of saw dust. Neptunes does work but so does a lot of other product out there. I suggest that you read up on compost tea in this area. As it is cheaper and works just as well if not better.

I heard you can bake the horse poo to kill the weed seeds.

its honorable that a 13 year old would want to get into this hobby. your questions are all well intended and you are certainly full of energy and excitment id suggest that you spend the next few weeks working on your pumpkin plant program, make that fruit grow as best you can for this season and get intop the fall preparation a bit later on.

If you can spread the poo and cover with plastic to bake it to bring up and kill the weed seeds and any grubs, it should work. Use 4 mil or thicker black plastic and a month or so of sun baking on it will do a lot.

Ya, I've heard of that too, sort of like solarizing soil. And Doug, I don't know anything about baking horse poo, only heard about it. I personally wouldn't do it though, lol. OkieGal's idea is better.
