I have a pumpkin that is 7 days old but only the size of a baseball, so I am sure it aborted.

funny thing is that it is still real shiny. is this normal? All my other aborts were dull.

pete, look at my diary, mine was that color from day and it it had aborted or didnt take, one of the two. I cut it off at day 11 finally and trying for another. Its the 1075 scherber. I actually had 2 of them did the exact same thing. I have one left on the main that is on its 3rd day since pollination. I am hoping it took or as far as any on the main, it's lights out for that plant.

Pete have a look at this. It has hardly grown in five days. I fear it will abort soon although it looks healthy.

worst case scenario - i had a plant a long time ago that decided to wait until the fruit were in the 70-90 pound range to abort them.

i can usually tell for sure about day 5 or 6

My pumpkin on my 1402 aborted on me Pete, at day 15, still shiny but when felt today it was soft. I have lost them older then 15 days also. Bad thing is I culled everything off my 1402 5 days ago and now I have none. It stinks, but thats the chance I took so I could start getting everything going to that one pumpkin early on. Im going to be pulling that plant tomorrow.
