Now, I know we shouldn't really be growing on pallets or the likes, but due to the fact that I didn't leave myself enough space (3 plants instead of 2) I had to curve my mains and now it seems two of my fruit will be in a spot where water may collect. I am not sure how much sand I would need to remove them from harms way. So I figure there are 2 options:
1. dig down a bit, put a pallet in with a large piece of 3/4" plywood on top to ensure the pumpkin won't grow past the edges.
2. make a large mound of sand and some channels around the fruit to ensure any water is quickly moved to another area (assuming this is feasible).
Any thoughts.

Sand, mill fabric, trench to take runoff away. Get that shelter over them sooner rather than later... :)
