my lonesome female at about 8-10' on the main vine about the size of a larger marble has a dent in it, should i leave it on the vine or pick it off in hoping to have another female develop past it?

Leave it. At least until you have another sucessfully pollinated female. Any defect in the pumpkin now, will be magnified as it gets larger, increasing you chances of a split. But, to paraphrase, a pumpkin on the vine is worth two in the bush.
