Hi, some of the leaves on my 988 Blair plant just on the ends of the vines are getting shriveled up and have rips in them and yellow spots. I am guessing it is because of the heat, but I'm not sure. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks

Giant pumpkin farmer, how far do you live from Kenny Blair? He might be able to look at the plant for you.

Hey richard!

The shriveled leaves could be the heat
you might want to see if there are any birds or animals causing the rips
sometimes the yellow spots come from the plants parents or it has that trait
you might want to post some pictures to see what the cause is.

I will e-mail you soon

Thanks,

Yes, if you are talking about the young tender leaves right at the ends of the vines, they can be burned by the sun on a hot day. It happened to me (just north of you) when we got really hot about one week ago.

Some folks try to shade the vine tips to prevent leaf burn.

This reminds me, that starting tomorrow we're looking at high 90's again........

I think I have what CliffWarren said, it sounds exactly like me. And I live far from Kenny, so that won't be a possibility but I think it should be fine. It just happens to the young tender leaves on the ends, so i think I've got it under control. And it did happen about a week ago. But I do think one of my plants might have Microdochium blight. I will have to research it. Thanks

Never mind, i don't have microdochium blight just severe overheating on one of the plants. It still grows okay, the leaves just kind of shrivel as soon as they come out.
