what makes thes holes in my leaf stalk like in my pic. I sprayed with sevin but I have no clue what made the holes?

Could be the start of a svb worm . Try splitting the stalks open and looking for a tiny worm with a black head. If thats what you see seven will not control svb's , you will need something stronger. Good luck !

I cut the leaves right off did notsee anything.

When the svb hatch they are really tiny might even try checking with a magnifying glass, if you find any you'll want to spray all your vines & leaf stock because once the bore into the vines they are a big pain to deal with.

Depends on which you have. Some have carbaryl (sevin) some have imidacloprid and cyfluthrin. I can say that the imidacloprid will kill the grub, but only if it is present in the plant when they eat it. If they are already there, it won't move to that part of the plant fast enough to kill them in time. By then, too much damage will be done. As for cyfluthrin, I can't say whether or not it will kill them.
I would use either bifenthrin or something containing cyhalothrin (either lambda or gamma) because they will work for sure on contact.
