Both the mains of the 1689 and 1502 are currently at 19 feet and will be giving us a nice female there in the next few days. The first and second secondaries are already terminated at 12 feet. When and at what length should the third and fourth secondaries be terminated? Thanks for the help! -Creek and son

Grow all the secondaries out to 12 feet. You would like to grow a box(rectangle most likley.

at 19 ft you would never want to grow all secondaries out to 12 ft or you would have even more plant than you would need, plus once you get pollinated you want that juice going to the fruit. id plan on doing four more sets of sides at 12 ft, then once you are sure the pollination took id terminate one remaining set per day until you are up to the fruit. ( 19 ft is a long way out and a lot of sides to feed pumpkin with )even if the plant ends up shaped more like a true christmas tree rather than a box. sooner or later you want the fruit to grow not the plant.

I dont know how you do it Pap, but you are right there again when I need you. Cant wait for Dicks Tips. I was wondering about terminating secondarys and it seems youve answered the question. My plants are going gung ho, and Ive already pollinated to I guess it would be time to start terminating secondarys like you mentioned one a day. thanks so much for all your help. Croley Bend
