I had big plans this year to pollinate one particular plant with the pollen of another particular plant. Boy did I learn. The pollination I wanted to do really never happened, well it still may, I have a couple of more days... When I had a female, the male was not around, when I had lots of males, the female was not quite ready. Im glad I planted four plants. One of my plants has absolutely no males but lots and lots of females, some even on the main, which I pollinated. Just wanted to tell someone, thanks for listening and what your story? Croley Bend

This speaks volumes about our endeavor & life in general. Cheer up, there will be other chances just as there will be more seasons.

Been there done that...Croley!! This year, in the event that I don't have the males ready when I need them, I may ask Dave Pley, Jake van Kooten or Craig Sandvik to same day Fed-Ex me some male flowers for use the next day.
This way, I can do an awesome cross and count on my heavy hitter Island buddies to prove the male pollinator for me. Win-Win for everyone...lol...

Wish that worked here... we are so far off the path that anything 'express overnight' is an automatic extra day!
Oh man, about one side is raring and the other is off a day or two the other way.... story of my summer for sure!
As it is a lot of our local growers have only one vine so now I'm letting all the males that want to open do so on my two fair vines... because I'll be having to supply them with something to set with. Pollen factory, never thought *I* would be the one setting up a pollen factory (1018 Langevin which is a 1450x1502 Wallace)(1009 Young... still can't get used to those lovely neon yellow vines -heh)
What I hate is no matter how diligently I search, I miss one (male or female). Or several. That one vine needs it's own area code and sherpas to get around in it.

you can dream all winter long...but the crosses that you make out of necessity are the ones you got...and they might be the best in the long run out of them all...serendipity!!! or they might be duds....it's a crap shoot just like life.
