I have been on vacation for a while and just got back home. Is it too late to plant my pumpkin seeds in the garden in order to have a big pumpkin by weigh-off time here in New England?

Too late for weigh off, but you can still plant just for fun.

At this point a severed secondary would give you results. May be some one in Connecticut has one.

you guys? Why did someone on this board (not this thread) say it's impossible to get a big pumpkin down south? i've got pumpkins like crazy, and I have no idea what I'm doing, and yes, i plan on planting some atlantic giants just for fun. They should be sprouting right after the 4th! I'm learning ALOT this year...and already planning for next. In the meantime, just laugh with me. I promise I'm laughing at myself!

I grew a 200 + pounder in Alabama in 2002. You can deffinitly grow one in Texas just keep the plant well watered.

Mr. T proved the 'down south' theory wrong...he grew an Atlantic Giant to 900lbs. in Freeport...Bahamas!

Dang. I have only done this for three years now but I was hoping to have a larger pumpkin this year. I was near but not over 500 last year and figure it was a lack of water that kept them from growing. So I procured two 275 gallon IBC tanks and a gas pump to get water out of the stock pond and up the hill to the plants.
I got two big max generic plants in the ground before I left, but I don't expect anything great from them. The Atlantic Dill seeds taken from my plants last year are germinating right now.
Anyone have any cuttings they want to share with a neighbor? I'll drive within 150 miles to secure a viable specimen! My local pride is on the line here... any help? :)
Thanks for all the replies so far, even if it is a bit demotivating.

If anyone has any plants still in pots...that might be the best bet for you.
