is it just a matter of waiting a few days or is there something else I should be looking for?

The flower will start to dry up and should just fall off. If it did not take the whole thing will shrivel and fall off but I don't know of any other way to tell if it took besides the wait and see approach. If anyone else nows more i'm sure they will post it.

The small pumpkin under the bloom will have a shiny, polished look. If it starts to lose the shine and get a dull look it didn't take.

How many days after pollinating does the fruit start to "shrivel-up" If it did'nt take?

Sometimes it can take a while to be absolutely sure. Definitely by 10 days you will know. It should be 20+ inches around.
