I've read many posts on this subject, but I still can't figure out what is going on. I cut some males off in the evening, take them inside for the morning and nothing happens. They do not open up for me. I've tried soaking the stems in warm water, using no water, still I got nothin' Any advice?

If they are in the house then I would just leave them because they are safe from getting contaminated with other pollen.

Sounds like your picking them to early? They should have a deinate "Orange-glow" to them especially nesr the tip if their ready to open in the Morning. if you did Pick them to early and they don't open inside the next morning,Peek inside and see If the Pollen grains are formed on the stamen? If not leave it in the water for another day and you should see visiable pollen grains that form over the 24 hr time frame.

The heat from a blow dryer on low will open them up. Along with a light.
