I am finding a insect that is Brown and looks like a small Fly. They are in my Garden, not many, I find a few each morning. I try and kill them on sight. Will these "Brown Flies" hurt anything and how do I get them out if they do damage?

Oh! I found a few "Bar Flies" (?) this morning and they left a gooey substance on and round leaves and stems of garden plants. What the heck! Any suggestions?

Thanks for the great site from UKY Diamondlady! Mad a trap with a coffee funnel, canning jar and a few ounces of cider-V. Question? What is that gooey stuff they leave behind on plant? Does "it" attract other problems?
