When I started growing pumpkins a couple of years ago I ordered some seeds from P.P. This year I started some of my oldest seed just to see if they germed. One of the seeds I started was from P.P and the packege says its a 801,5 x 801,5 Stelts that produced the 1047 Peters -03. After a bad start with some of my seeds this one became a backup, and now its growing in my best patch. Is there anyone that know anything about this seed I would be very glad to know all there is worth to know about it, like is it sibbed or selfed? whats the weight of the pumpkin the seed come from, and who is the grower of it. How did the 1047 peters looked like, shape, colour? any photos? what year is the seed from? Anyone else that have growed this seed- results? Post what you know here about it or mail me at [email protected]

I believe the seed was a 247 Beachy, (can't remember for sure) also think it was an 801 Stelts X open, Tom are you out there, Eddy

lilja, what i found is that P&P listed it as 801.5 Stelts offspring. from what i found, the seed is supposedly the 243 beachy (01). the 243 beachy (01) cross is 801.5 stelts x open. thats all i could find, no pics of it. is this accurate, not sure, just going by what i found. joe

forgot to mention, this seed produced the 1047 peters. it was weighed at 1 weigh off, (1047), then it was weighed at another weigh off a week later, came to 1033. the 1033 was the official weight of the pumpkin.

ya, that was the 243 as joe stated. It was open pollinated. I believe the one that grew the 1047 to be a sibb, but that obviously cannot be proven. The fruit that Wayne Peters grew took a strong resemblance to the 807 Beachy which was grown on the 801.5 stelts #2 plant that year.
Most likely pollinators to the 243 given the 1047: 553 Nesbitt(801.5 x sibb) produced long and low 731 Stucker(801.5 x sibb) produced Tall and blocky self which produced long and low 801.5 Stelts#1 produced Tall and Blocky
The plants directly next to the 801.5 were the 553 and the 801.5 #2 This would lead me to guess the 801.5 was the main pollinator.
Bees travel around, and there is a more complete list of possible pollinators. If you send me a picture of the female before it opens, I will do my best to take a guess as to the male parent.
