How many days is it from when you can first see a female bud and the day it opens for pollination? 10 days?

Usually anywhere from 7 to 10 days. My experience has been closer to 10.

Good question, I have a follow up to this one. Once you see the fruit, when do most of you (and I gues DO MOST OF YOU) cut the leaf or secondary from the vine that is at the same junction as the fruit?Sometimes the female sits akward from the main because of the leaf or the secondary. I like to cut it away as soon as I can, but always wondered what the majority does.

I leave both for now. The leaf until it starts to rub and scratch the pumpkin then I cut it off. The secondary goes once I'm pretty sure that is the one. The main reason I cut the secondary is that I put a 90 bend in my vine right at the pumpkin and the main vine and secondary end up on top of each other so it gets cut.
