Depends on how natural you want to be. If you are going all green, Keeping bugs back will be an interesting fight. If you dont mind a few chemicals in the patch, Sevin works great for cuke beetles and squash bugs, but doesnt touch squash vine borers. For SVB's, you need a stronger pesticide like Warrior T or Talstar.
Anyone out there growing organic and not using chemicals to stop bugs? WHat are you using?

I don't use chemicals. I used Garlic Barrier for the first time last year, and am using it again this year. The Cuke Beetles were bad last year, so I sprayed Garlic Barrier every 5-7 days. I don't think it kills the bugs, but makes the plant less tasty to them. With my limited experience with it, I'm quite pleased with Garlic Barrier.

I just got hit hard by striped cuke beetles this weekend and Garlic didn't seem to even slow them down. Ended up giving up and spraying Ortho Max. All gone.
