When it's time to cut and bury vine tips from the secondaries once they hit the border of the growing area. Is it correct to let the vine grow just one leaf stalk over the intended growing area and then cutting it off(let it air dry) and burying while securing the final leaf stalk with a stake and zip tie so the vine won't twist? Does anyone apply captan or anything else on the cut area before burying?

In the past, I have just terminated with a shovel at the edge of the patch and buryied. There is a bit of talk about letting the vine continue to grow for three nodes behond the termination point, then terminating. This is in order to allow the node to more completley develope before termination. Treating with a fungicide and allowing to dry is always a good precation, althought I have never had problems and may be unnecessary.
I can't speak about the zip tie thing...never heard of that one
