Here is a question I am sure everyone has read more than once..sorry to ask again. Do you want your pumpkin to be on the main vine or secondary? The reason I ask, I am seeing female flowers on my secondarys but not main yet. The main vine is about 12' long and each side as about 5 or 6 secondaries. So any and all help is appreciated, Im working on beating the Van Hooks...lol..Croley Bend

Croley, if possible you always want your pumpkin on the main vine. You can grow one on the secondary but usually the end result will be much less. It is normal to see females on the secondaries before they start on the main. Most growers pluck the ones on the secondaries off however there is something to be said for pollinating those just in case you get nothing on the main. But yes, if possible go with the main vine.

Shaker, sheer luck. Im posting pics today of my patch. Im amazed at how fast the plants are growing..I also did soil test, added what it needed and good bottom land here in Kentucky. Also, lots and lots of advise from all the wonderful growers here.
