Or what ever you call these things. My wife saw one about one hundred yards from the patch today. We have never had them around here before. I have only saw 2 in my life locally. I was putting up an electric fence already for the deer.
What is the best bait to put in a havaheart trap? If I can find the tunnel what is best to put in there to kill them.
Thanks Doug John 3:16

Doug, If the animal isnt a very smart one, apples, melon and pumpkin leaves will do the trick, as far as the hole, there will be another exit hole, seal one, wait till dark, get a poison gas bomb and stick it in there and cover the hole......or if ya feel real gutsy, after sealing the hole stick a hose as far as ya can down the hole, make sure ya tie a sock or something to stop the soil from clogging the hose end......pour ammonia in the hose, then clorex, it makes clorine gas...seal the hole and get away.... Please no human rights or PETA type responses.

Tom When they are a problem something has to be done, We administered the same treatments when I was a kid back in Mass, no one got their jollies doing it. So no critisism here.

I wonder if the clorine gas would work for California ground squirrel? Darn things have now got three of my pumpkins. I have only got two of them. I don't want them to win.

Carol, do you know the story of why Bozo got canceled, A kid said to Bozo. How do you catch a squirrel? Bozo says I don't know how do you catch a squirrel young man? You pull down your pants and show it your nuts, the boy proclaims. Are you married?

Hey doug, make sure that you do not breathe in that mixture. It can kill you in a matter of minutes. Kind of like mustard gas!!!!

I don't recall our squirrels being such a problem back east,We just assumed it was a woodchuck as we would find holes near the garden and they would be toast as soon as we could aquire what was neccesary to eliminate them.Maybe strip a wire and put it in a circle around the plant and plug it in, I've heard crazier ideas around here, lol good luck Carol.
