I put some 30-3-2 or something like that on my plants to speed them up, it is lawn fertilizer. I just want to make sure they will be okay, it has been on them for about a week and they look great and are growing very fast.

If your planning on polinating soon it might be a problem with the fruit aborting because of the high nitrogen.

I use 36-6-6 as a weekly application for 4 weeks in June before switching to a balanced 20-20-20. Just be sure to water enough and it should be fine.

a good suggestion would be to ask for advise BEFORE doing something yuour not sure of.

Be careful. I would stay away from lawn ferts. Go with organics. Try some manuer based.

I just pollinated a fruit while actively using 45-0-0. It took no problem. I have no proof personally that fertilizing will cause an abort. Is this another unproven rule of growing the Giants ?

nor do i. but it could take a while for it to manifest itself in the form of a deflated fruit. IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF IT CONTINUED TO TAKE, AND THERE WERE NO ILL EFFECTS! good luck to you---eric g

too much N on tomatoes will definitely cause fruit to not set. I think with AG's some plants might be more susceptible than others?
