I just went down to the patch today and found a crack in the main vine a few inches away from the crown. It was from the wind blowing around the vine because leaves are getting so big. I checked it and it is about an inch long and is going in the same direction as the vine and it wasn't oozing at all. I also noticed the the rest of the plant looked as green and healthy as ever. Do you guys think it will heal? If it does will it set me back at all?

yes, it will heal itself, some put a bandaid around it with some captian fungiside.......i 2 weeks remove the bandaid.......split usually gone....bandaid....something to pad and something water proof over it.....gauze...platic rap......tape in on loosely......keep dry........good luck

I don't have any captan and don't think there are any stores in my area that have it. Would peroxide work? If it would, at what concentration?

The lengthwise splits I have had (quite a few over the past 4yrs) have healed themselves without any "first aid". Probably would be a good idea to try and keep it dry for a few days but I have learned that a lenghtwise split of only a few inches is the least of what problems we can have. Don't sweat it.

Sam, keep it dry and it will heal fine. It most likely will slow the plant down for awhile giving it time to heal but it will rebound for you. I have 2 of them going like that this year.

I have the same thing... mine looks to be healing itself... its gots some nice growth on it and the vines and main vine (which I might have two... don't know... cuz im a rookie).... are nice and green... and more growth coming... i just need to stake those vines and let her rip... Its been unusually windy this year in NC... I just hope i get something this year....
