I have a small stem split on my best plant! The others are far behind. What should I do? It is only about half an inch long.

most people will ask if its across the stem or running the same way. In both cases put some captan on it or sulphur powder mixed with water to make a paste. If its running th e same way as the stem then you should be ok. Kirk

If it's running the same way as the vine it will heal itself. Won't slow down your growth at all. I just had one that finished healing from a split about 3 weeks ago.

I had split my husbands pumpkin plant across the main when it first started to grow. Right away while it was still oosing I put it back together. I put two layers of tape on it. The first layer of tape was one from my first aid kit. The second layer was some silver tape. This is when it first happend. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=84544
This is it now. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=85641

if lengthwise a twist tie lightly applied for a few days will help it close quicker -- make sure you remove it!

Oh thats good, it runs the same way as the stem so it should be fine then. I noticed it is to healing itself. Thanks so much! It is growing fast now and I am glad it won't die!
