Is it possible to change the setting on the grower diaries so that I see everybody's most recent entries first and not last? It seems like there's got to be an easy way to do it but I can't seem to figure it out

Ken, try to mix them up a bit, like put the first diary entry in the middle and the 2nd entry like the 5th one to the last, you can even throw a photo Gallery picture in there every now and then that someone eles took back in 1998, this way it can make it like a puzzel and people will have to put them in order to the way they feel that diary entries really happend. Bart and I was BSing last week and this is the way Bart told me he would rather have it, right Bart?,,,lol

now you have to check out every diary over and over,,some way over a 100 towards the end makes it a lot of work. I like the old way better!

I like the new way. Why scroll alllll they way down to see the newest entry? It takes me 5 minutes to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Biz's diary and then I can't even find anything pumpkin related :(

It is always story about one season on diarys. I would not like to see result first but how we get those results.

So if we are voting im definately want old way back.

Hey, is it possible to make so that user can chooce which way diarys are showed? Win-win, everyones happy.

Would it be possible to give the person viewing the diary an option if they would like to view it from old to new or from new to old?

Very good point Miika. I never thought about it that way. I'm always in too much of a hurry I guess.

Thanks, Ken! But, wow, I had no idea that so many others would prefer the old way. If there is a way to choose one or the other by clicking on the "Entries" tab or something, that would be nice, of course. The reason I like it this way is that I like to follow a grower's season on a near-daily basis. Scrolling down through 200 entries every day is a major drag. Most of the good stuff comes later, anyway. Last year when we were following Don Young's 1662, didn't you just want to hear the latest on the big pumpkin after a while and not have to scroll through everthing that you'd already read many times?

I just read GermanPumpkinWorld's diary for the first time (over 200 entries) to see what it's like to read a diary for the first time "the new way." The first time through feels a bit awkward, I'll grant you that, but I think it's just because we're so used to "the old way." Scrolling or dragging up isn't what we're used to, but it's not all that hard, really. A small bit of inconvenience the first time through a grower's diary is more than worth it (since the next 50 times through will be a breeze). Plus, if we're saying that with "the old way" we can just scroll down to the bottom every time, why not just do that the first time you read a diary?

If we're voting, I like the old way, but I think giving users the option of choosing is a great idea too.

I like the new format. It automatically loads the new entries so you don't have to wait forever when looking at a rather large diary.

Thanks Ken...keep it this way!!

Anyone noticed this:

With old way we were allready able to see new entries first without waiting whole diary to upload. When you came in just scrolled down on frontpage and you saw who has updated their diarys and how many new entries there are. When you clicked there you got yourself automatically to first of new entries since your last visit.

let say you read a book, and you take a break to read on later. Do you start at page one every time to take it back up.

the old way i clicked and seen the new entry, and i chose so, i could look back on previous entrys. This new way i,m forced to start at page 1 every time, over and over again.
a bit of overkill if you ask me, especcially when checking out the long diarys, once again, the old way made more sense and was much better, it left me the choise..

Old way most definitely. I imagine the people who view it every day will like the old way....the people who check it every few days or less will like the new way. Those over 40 stuck in thier rigid ways will like the old way......left to right.....switch it back !!

LOL at Boom Boom

yeah, the old way is much better.
if you go to 'Grower Diaries' and intend-on looking at
a certain diary then yes, you may have to start at the beginning or the end and probably have to scroll-along to get to the most recent--haven't researched it thoroughly--
but, under "What's New", THAT is where everything that is
new is, so when we clicked on THOSE headings, it put us right where the new stuff was. those were the good old days
of 24 hours ago. hey, i got one that could use some work:
when you research a particular diary and by clicking on the heading such as "Nickname", select it, go research
the diary, come back and.....all the names have defaulted back again! oh, hand me a wrench, will ya??? L-ha-O-ha-L

i vote the old way cuz new posts make no sense if referencing past posts. then going back to figure out the new post is like reading a book backwards, knowing the ending and then trying to figure out what the story was about.

Either way for me, the old way, you had to scroll down to get to the latest, it seemed like kind of a bother when someone has 150 entries.
