My wife said to me today, they should have a chatroom for wifes, I wonder what they had to put up with this year. I had a bin full of worms in the bedroom this winter for making compost, they multiplied and were dumped into the garden with lots of coffee grounds and manure.

Should say "for making worm castings"

We don't have to compete with other woman, late night poker games etc. for our husbands affection, instead, we find our selfs competing with the magnificent gourd called pumpkin. And they don't leave it out of the bedroom either, I had to compete with a plastic bin full of worms, newspaper etc. that was closer to my husband than I was. for the winter of 2007-08, can anyone beat that. "from my wife"

ha-ha! My husband has to put up with my growing lights illuminating our house from space, now the hoop house extravaganza (2 10X20 that nearly took off to the next city with a recent fluke wind storm), what next? I guess I should bring in the worms! ha-ha.

My hubby puts up with me tilling up most of the yard, the electric and water bills for heating hotkaps/running greenhouse/watering half the yard [seaOweeds], my need for yet another ($$$) thing... I had a wormfarm and he did them in when I was sick for a month so... sigh. I have put up with markers in bed and bits of wire in the carpet for almost three decades, he can put up with potmix in the kitchen! (yes I bribe him with tomatoes and strawberries in the summer, which HELPS) ... oh, and we won't get into the steel fenceposts in front and back yards and the blue tarp windbreaks (my additions to the exterior decorating). Don't tell him I ordered mill fabric... :D

I think my wife puts up with the most. My patch is 10 miles from my house, & since my accident I haven't been able to drive ( and probably won't until Sept.) so when she gets off work she drives me out to the patch so I can take care of the plants.

My Honey thinks pumpkins are great. The more time I spend in the patch the lees time I bother her.............

Except my husband gets stuck with all the tilling, and anything that requires any kind of "mechanical" thinking such as a fence or water system. He gets involved in that stuff. Only because I would rather have it done right and his ideas are usually much better than mine. He's been pretty good about hauling manuer in the Fall, spreading it, and leaf compost and final tilling with Spring amendments. For someone that hates gardening, he sure is out helping me alot, and it is appreciated.

He's my camera man so any good pictures, he usually takes overhead patch shots, etc. Hasn't done too many of those this year yet. Will be once the pumpkins start growing.

Alex, trust me, there's one reason I'd put up with worms in the bedroom: Worms Don't Snore (like a congested chainsaw!) :D
