I have some beautiful cots! Not much growing with a temp of 43 at 5 pm yesterday. Just waiting for some sun to get these plants started. It will be a miracle to be polinated by July 10th.

I know! I am actually proud that I have 2 feet of main vine! Mostly because I've been watering with warm water from my kitchen and I have heating cables in the soil and a cover cloche! Woo hoo.... 2 feet! Anybody in Washington beating that!? Let's hear about it! LOL!

Did you hear about Stan's winds 2 days ago? Tore his hoop houses all to heck and broke off three main vines. Snowed in Pullman last night. Passes had snow as well. This is not a good year in the NW for the gourds.

Ahhh, you guys, quit your whining. You know you'll grow your gigunda pumpkins up there and bring them down to beat us all in Half Moon Bay!

Saw the pictures of Stan's hoop houses. What a mess. Discouraging, to say the least. California will probably grow the big ones this year on the west coast.

I agree, Jake. California ought to do well. Joel keeps pretty quiet as what is happening in his patch. Jack is "pulling his hair out"! I don't have any hair!! Temps in the low 60's for weeks. Forecast for a one day heat wave of 70 this weekend!

Stan your hoop houses were torn up in our storm? I am sorry that is so frustrating! My hoop houses nearly landed in Puyallup! They chopped off two main vines in the process. But my other plants are doing alright. Hoop houses are temporarily repaired (still some work to do on them), and I have a couple of 2-3 foot main vines and a couple tiny little guys afraid of the cold. Hey today was pretty nice eh? What was it 62 or something? Yikes!

Hi Erin....sorry to hear that you are moving! Hey...we hit 70 today.....I actually was able to take my sweatwhirt off.
Yes Mac...we had a 50+ mph wind come through on Monday for about three hours. Tore things up pretty badly....plants mauled, three mains broken.....seems to add up to a less than successful year.
